Police: Driver Crosses Center Line, Causes Fatal Crash

A Montgomery Village motorcyclist died after he was struck by a car in Germantown.

A motorcyclist from Montgomery Village was thrown from his bike and died after a car reportedly crossed the center line, causing the fatal collision Sunday evening, according to Montgomery County Police.

Officers and rescue crews were called to the crash Sunday night in the 11000 block of Brink Road near Treva Court in Germantown. A silver Infiniti QX4 driven by Juan Salvador Morales Duarte, 34, of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg reportedly struck a black 1996 Harley Davidson Road King.

The Infiniti was eastbound on Brink Road when it reportedly crossed the double yellow lane markings, traveled into the westbound lanes, and struck the westbound motorcycle.

The force of the collision overturned the Infiniti and threw the motorcycle’s driver from the bike, police say. Kevin Roger Kanke, 52, of the 20400 block of Lindos Court in Montgomery Village was found in the wooded area near the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Duarte was taken to Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
