
UPDATE 3:40pm Aug. 17 -- No criminal charges will be filed in the alleged altercation in South Village on Tuesday that prompted assistance from SWAT personnel.
"They took two [people] in for questioning, but charges were not preferred," said Officer Howard Hersh, a county police spokesman.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE 7:45pm Aug. 16 -- Montgomery County SWAT teams descended on Montgomery Village on Tuesday night, using as a staging ground while police investigated an alleged assault in a townhouse nearby.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police were called for an altercation in the 18000 block of Singing Pine Circle, in The Hamptons neighborhood of South Village. There was "an unknown weapon or weapons in the house," and officers requested SWAT back-up, said Officer Howard Hersh, a county police spokesman.
SWAT teams are called in "for barricade situations or unknown situations where there’s an elevated risk of injury to officers and citizens," Hersh said.

Police made one arrest, Hersh said. No shots were fired and no injuries reported. Detectives are interviewing the suspect. Hersh did not have additional information.
"It’s still under investigation as to what exactly happened," Hersh said.
