South Village Scenes
Nothing ever seems new or worth reporting in Village News under South Village Scenes
For those not familiar with Montgomery Village, it has its own in-house published ‘newspaper’ entitled ‘The Village News’....
Within that publication is a section devoted to Homes Corporations and Condominium Associations within the Village. It allots space for each and every HOA to keep their residents abreast of what is happening in their community.
The sorry part is.... South Village (which has a total of seven communities for which they ‘claim’ responsibility to oversee, a claim that is not necessarily a reality but basically gives them corporation status and the legal right to mandate membership assessment fees) is absent more often than not in that Village-wide paper distribution.
With that said, it leads me to the current Village edition where low and behold, at least, South Village was represented in the paper but in a rather bizarre fashion. Instead of giving homeowners information and updates on community happenings, it presented residents with a list of phone numbers and email addresses of ‘outside sources’ who might be able to assist us under SVHC penned “Are there any areas where you could use a little help”?
Hello, folks (of MVF and SVHC), we have been asking for your assistance and presence regarding e.g. the lack of oversight and enforcement in our South Village communities, handle on homes that have long-ago ceased ‘basic home maintenance’. We do not pay assessments for you become our resource of County telephone directory, seriously.
The irony as well is that just a couple days before this bizarre ‘Village News filler’ appeared under South Village Scenes, one community (and one community alone out of seven under South Village) received a letter that basically gave us more telephone numbers and County contacts e.g. police (emergency and non-emergency), the contracted security company and even Child Protective Services telephone number. Speaks volumes when basically the only thing (old and new) in this one particular South Village community is the issue of criminal activity, disturbances and even child neglect and endangerment. And backs up further my accurate alerts to The Powers That Be for decades that they needed to make their presence known and fulfill their corporation status (other than threatening me or any other long-standing and cooperative homeowner) or the demise of a community would be ‘way too fast and painful’.
The most painful from neglect is that market value of homes have depreciated not from recession but from HOA representatives ignoring all the original signs!!!!! Now the age of the Village is used as elected representatives’ excuse for years of sitting back and allowing neighborhoods to depreciate and basically turn into squalors (appearance of government housing project which might explain SVHC now spending publication space to directing South Village invested homeowners {who have watched value of homes ‘go down the toilet’} to County resources for assistance...hummm!) or paradise for investor slum lords!
South Village, there is plenty to write about under South Village Scenes other than provide me or any other frustrated homeowner (frustrated with our MVF and SVHC elected Board members) telephone numbers to:Government Information and Resources; Help paying for Child Care; ESL, citizenship prep and computer classes; Emergency preparedness; Caregiver Support; Volunteer opportunities; etc.
Somehow now, when SVHC pops into my head, I visualize Lily Tomlin from Laugh-In performing her ‘Ernestine Skits’....’One ringy dingy; two ringy dingies’.
