Strong-Arm Robberies, Assault and Attempted Rape

The following is from the most recent crime summary for the Montgomery County Police Department's 6th District, which covers Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg. Arrests do not imply guilt.

  • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 18600 block of Lost Knife Circle in Cider Mill at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 23. The alleged victim said that she was approached by five females and two males and an argument ensued. A suspect punched the victim in the face and another suspect stole her cell phone. The suspects are both described as black females, 18 to 20 years old.
  • An attempted burglary occurred in the 18500 block of Office Park Drive between Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21. Entry unsuccessfully attempted by trying to pry open the front door.
  • An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred near 18900 Montgomery Village Avenue—near Center Stage— at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21. The alleged victim was on his bicycle when he rode past a group of subjects. As he did, one suspect grabbed his shirt, forcing him to stop. The suspect said he wanted the bike, but a female in the group intervened. The alleged victim rode to safety. Both suspects are described as black males 18 to 20 years old; one of whom is 5’ 9” and has a teardrop tattoo near his eye.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 19500 block of Burlingame Way in Stedwick between 2:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 20. A metal grate covering a basement window was removed but no entry was made.
  • An attempted rape occurred in the 19550 block of Montgomery Village Avenue—near Stewartown Road—on Tuesday, June 28. A victim exited a bus and was walking along the sidewalk when the suspect grabbed her and began dragging her to the woods of the Montgomery Village Golf Course.  A passing bicyclist scared off the suspect, who then fled on foot. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 36 years old, 5’ 6” to 5’ 8” tall, weighing 200 to 225 pounds, with short black hair and wearing a light-colored ball cap and a white t-shirt.
  • A vehicle-related theft and assault occurred in the 7500 block of Rickenbacker Drive outside Gaithersburg on Thursday, June 23. An adult male was walking to his car when he saw a suspect walking away with his cell phone, GPS and iPod. When confronted, the suspect punched the victim in the nose and fled. The suspect is described as a black male, 40 to 45 years old, 6’ 3” tall, weighing 240 pounds and wearing a beige t-shirt and camouflage pants.
