Alex Cooper Auctioneers to Host Public Auction May 30-31

WHAT: Alex Cooper Auctioneers, one of the largest auction houses in the mid-Atlantic, will host a public auction on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 at its gallery in Towson, Md. During the auction, the public will have the opportunity to bid on fine-quality items from different countries and time periods, including: unique antiques, modern and quality reproduction furniture, American and continental paintings and sculptures, porcelain, oriental rugs and other collectables.

Below is a sampling of extraordinary items that will be available for auction:

· Steinway Model Mahogany-Cased Grand Piano

· Scottish tall-case clock, James Gray, Elgin; Queen Anne tall case clock, George Burgis, London; Federal tall case clock, Eli Bentley, Taney Town (MD)

· Paul Evans welded steel patchwork sofa

· Federal inlaid mahogany serpentine-front chest of drawers, Southern origin, circa 1780; 37” in height.

· German pewter-mounted faience steins, 18th century

· Coalport paint and jewel enamel decorated plates

· Japanese painted stone Daoist shrine, 19th century

· Japanese Imari porcelain bowl

· Pablo Picasso, Bullfight, black chalk on paper, signed, 7 ¾ x 10 ¼ in., framed

Buyers are invited to visit the gallery and preview items before the auction during an exhibition on Thursday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
