Alzheimer's Association To Present Annual Dementia Conference Apr. 24
Music & Memory Executive Director Dan Cohen To Be Keynote Speaker

Timonium, Md. – The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter will present the Alzheimer’s Association Annual Dementia Conference, Friday, Apr. 24, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Baltimore Sheraton North (903 Dulaney Valley Rd.) in Towson.
As the Baltimore area’s leading dementia conference for healthcare professionals and caregivers, this comprehensive, full-day event will feature expert speakers, the latest on Alzheimer’s research and practical information on Alzheimer’s care.
Keynote speaker will be Dan Cohen, executive director of Music & Memory, a nonprofit organization that brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly or infirm through digital music technology. His work to enrich the lives of nursing home residents through personalized music was featured in the documentary, “Alive Inside: The Story of Music and Memory” (www.youtube.com/watch?v=-blmCB-grys).

Breakout sessions, including an inspirational panel of individuals with dementia and their caregivers, will address the basics of Alzheimer’s, managing difficult behaviors, dementia and intellectual difficulties, managing caregiver stress and best practices in dementia care.
“Ask the Expert” sessions will feature David Loreck, M.D. from VAMC Mental Health Consultation Services and Mary Faith Feretto, LCSW-C, C-ASWCM from Ferretto Eldercare Consulting as speakers.

Marilyn Albert, Ph.D., director of Johns Hopkins University Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, will give the closing session on current research and future promises.
