Baltimore's Classic Five to host Fifth Annual Baltimore Putting Championship

Golfers to participate in qualifying rounds June 26-27 and finals June 29 for coveted title of Baltimore's Best Putter

What: Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation (BMGC), also known as Baltimore’s Classic Five, will host the fifth annual Baltimore Putting Championship to determine Baltimore’s Best Putter. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Baltimore’s Classic Five Junior Golf program, which encourages young golfers to become involved with the game.

Who: Golfers of all skill levels. Two Divisions of Competition – Adult (18+) & Junior (17 & younger)

  • Qualifying – Sunday, June 26 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Qualifying – Monday, June 27 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Finals – Wednesday, June 29 6:00 p.m.

Additional: There is no pre-registration for the Classic Five Baltimore Putting Championship. Contestants are invited to show up at any one of the Baltimore’s Classic Five Golf Courses during the allotted qualifying time window. Registration fees are $5.00 for adults and free for juniors. Contestants can enter only once at any one golf course.

At each course, the top three scores (plus ties) in each division will qualify for the finals. At the conclusion of the finals, winners in each division (Adult and Junior) will receive vouchers for 25 free rounds of golf at any of the Classic Five golf courses. Prizes will also be awarded to second and third-place finishers in each division.

Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation (BMGC), the nation’s first nonprofit organization dedicated to the management and operation of municipal golf courses, has served the local golf community for more than 25 years. BMGC operates Baltimore’s Classic Five golf courses, which include Pine Ridge, Mount Pleasant, Forest Park, Clifton and Carroll Park. Municipalities such as New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and others have sought the Classic Five's assistance in designing programs to better manage their respective courses. Baltimore’s Classic Five Courses have been recognized by such publications as Golf Digest, Golf World and the United States Golf Journal, as well as by The National Golf Foundation. Among the golfing legends that have enjoyed career victories at a Classic Five course include Arnold Palmer, Nancy Lopez & Sam Snead.
