Bicyclists Plan Memorial Ride for Thomas Palermo
Palermo was hit on Roland Avenue by a vehicle that church officials say was driven by an Episcopal bishop.

Approximately 100 cyclists rode Monday night in memory of Thomas Palermo, the 41-year-old bicyclist killed Saturday after reports say a Maryland bishop with a drunk driving conviction struck him. The ride was one of two planned for this week.
Crank Mavens Monday Night Ride, which is usually a women’s group, opened the weekly ride to anyone who wanted to do something in memory of Palermo.
As cyclists set out from Mount Vernon’s Washington Monument to the fatal crash site on Roland Avenue, the group grew in numbers from 50 to approximately 100, ABC 2 News reported.

Bicyclists will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Square Park, at the corner of North Charles Street and University Parkway, outside the Cathedral of the Incarnation, according to Bikemore.
Following a moment of silence, the group will ride to the location where Palermo was hit by a car, in the 5700 block of Roland Avenue.
Then the group will proceed to Hampden for a celebration of Palermo’s life at art studio Gallery 788 and Belgian brasserie De Kleine Duivel, both located at 3602 Hickory Avenue.
