Farmers' Market Choices

Baltimore is home to excellent farmers markets that house many treasures.

In North Baltimore, we are inundated with farmers market choices.  I have chosen two that I attend frequently where I am able to find produce, meats and assorted goodies that force me back again and again.

The 32nd Street Farmers Market (32ndstreetmarket.org, open Saturdays) is closest to where I live and offers a good selection of in-seasons fruits and vegetables as well as bread and cheese.  And, I have spotted Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen (woodberrykitchen.com) fame on several occasions; if the quality of the food at this marget is good enough enough for this local culinary magnate, it certainly meets my needs!

The Baltimore Farmers Market (found underneath I-83 near Saratoga Street, open Sundays) is, in my humble opinion, the cream of the crop when it comes to Farmers Markets.  Possibly the largest farmers market you will ever attend, it has the normal staples one would expect while including finds such as crabs, lobsters, dozens of types of fish, pork, chicken and much more.  Hungry while you are shopping?  Indulge in smoked beef, fresh hummus, and, my personal favorite, crepes.  Also, don't miss out on a selection of potted plants, dog biscuits and fresh peas (always a long line).
