My Newest Song "Dearly Departed" And The Video For It
My newest song "Dearly Departed".
Here is my newest song and the video for it. It is what I am classifying as an alternative country song called "Dearly Departed". It is about relationships - who is up and who is down. It has gotten pretty good reviews from my fellow home recorders, although some pointed out that the guitar was somewhat incessant. I have to agree with them. I did a slower version at an open mic Thursday night and I think it works better than this version, but I am not up for rerecording this one again.

Dearly Departed
Darling when you were on top of me
I do admit it felt good
Sad you let it go to your head
I was afraid that you would
You set me up just to knock me down
You wiped your feet on my soul
While you were running all over town
I did grow
I'm not your dearly departed
I'm not yet in my grave
I'm not your sweet broken hearted
I will rise again
Loving was always a one way street
And you were happy to drive
I did not think to take the wheel
Highways are not for the blind
You kicked me out on a lonley road
Told me to find my way home
While you were living so recklessly
I had grown
I'm not your dearly departed...
I'm not say I'm over you
I'm not fixing to lie
I'd give you one more chance with me
If you'd try
I'm not your dearly departed...
I will rise again
