My favorite place to vacation is Provincetown, MA on the tip of Cape Cod almost surrounded by sand and sea where a fishing village and artist colony sits at lands end bordered by National Seashore beaches on Cape Cod Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
3 miles long with 2 streets running the length of town criss-crossed by about 30 short side streets, "Ptown" is full of proud little gardens, white picket fences, galleries, restaurants, shops and a town hall outside of which folks sit, watching tourists and neighbors walk or cycle by, gossip and listen to live performers sing.
A tall granite iconic monument to the Pilgrims dominates the landscape. It celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. Inside is an eclectic museum and steps one can climb hundreds of feet up for panaramic views all the way around.

Ptown can be reached by bus, car, ferry or plane.
A fun thing to do is walk out onto the end of the public pier to see the fast ferry arriving or departing, fishing vessels going out or bringing in their catch, whale watching boats filling up or dropping off passengers or just getting great views of the east and west sides of town, the harbor and the light houses in the distance.

Here are a few photos taken this September that cannot really do the place justice. It is possible to simply sit there taking in a constantly changing color show as wind, water, surf, sun and sand work a special magic on Provincetown.
