Spend a few hours touring our National Arboretum!

You don’t have to be a tree-hugger to enjoy a visit to the U. S. National Arboretum and

the government won’t ask you to rake their leaves. Pets and picnickers are welcome.

 

It’s only an hour away from Charm City, just off New York Avenue, NE a/k/a Route 50.

Besides the many groves of different kinds of trees, which are marked for many of us who don’t know a spruce from an elm, there’s a very old and special national bonsai collection, an herb garden, ponds, paths and, atop a commanding hill, an imposing grand row of columns relocated from the U.S. Capitol building in 1958.

 

Any season is good for the trip; it’s open every day except for Christmas.
