Child Killed in 26th Street Fire: Reports

The victim was said to be a 3-year-old girl.

At approximately 9 a.m., Baltimore City firefighters arrived at a home in the 500 block of East 26th Street where several people were hanging from the ledge to escape, according to WBAL.

Crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from a two-and-a-half story home, ABC 2 News reported.

One child died and three people were taken to area hospitals, according to reports.

A 3-year-old girl perished, several others were able to escape and firefighters rescued a 9-year-old, 62-year-old man and woman in her seventies, WJZ reported.

Those rescued were hospitalized with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to ABC 2 News.
