Exploding Toilet Covers Woman in Poop: Lawsuit

A Baltimore woman says she suffered head injuries when her toilet erupted as she sat on the seat; she has filed a $225K lawsuit.

BALTIMORE, MD — A woman covered in poop when her toilet exploded is suing the city of Baltimore for nearly a quarter of a million dollars.

Her lawsuit says the money is needed to reimburse her for the extensive cleanup and repairs made to her bathroom, along with medical expenses.

In her lawsuit, Angela Wright says she was using her bathroom toilet when it backed up and blew her off the seat, covering her in feces, reports WTOP.

The blast knocked the West Baltimore resident to the floor, and court papers say she suffered serious head injuries. To add insult to injury, she had to then clean up the bathroom from the waste that spewed everywhere.

“I was literally covered in feces,” Wright told FOX Baltimore. “Are you kidding me? Who wants that?”

The lawsuit names the Baltimore City Council, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and contractors Spiniello Companies Inc. and Heitkamp Inc. as defendants. Wright is seeking $3,300 in medical bills and $14,000 in property damage, plus $75,000 from each defendant, for a total of $225,000, reports The Baltimore Sun.

The city had hired the two contractors to clean out the sewer line in Wright’s neighborhood in November 2014 with the use of high-pressure hoses.

The mayor’s spokesman, Howard Libit, didn’t comment, citing pending litigation.
