Friends Boys Drop Home Opener to Severn

Tough defense kept Quakers in the game.

The defensive unit of seniors Michael John, Matt Collins, Jon Schmidt and goalie J.D. Robinson kept the Friends School boys lacrosse team in the game against Severn on Tuesday. But it was not enough to help as the Quakers lost their home opener, 8-4.

After a scoreless first period, Severn pulled ahead 3-0 midway through the second quarter. Friends then bounced back with two goals of its own and was down by one at the intermission, 3-2. The Quakers tied the game at 3-all early in the second half, but saw Severn score five unanswered goals.

Robinson had 18 saves in for Friends.
