I must admit that I have some mixed feelings about Alan Caruba’s main sentiment here. Like most Americans, I would prefer to be removed from both Iraq and Afghanistan, because I’m not sure what we can accomplish in either country, or, if we should even be trying. On the other hand, I do believe the ISIS terrorists, when they proclaim that they want to kill and slaughter the ‘infidels’, which certainly would include us. Their extreme ideology and overall worldview would attempt to establish a Caliphate, which would clearly be a threat to modern democratic societies. Thus, it seems reasonable that the U.S. needs to step up and play a significant role in stopping this threat now before it expands even further. I will be curious to see and hear how you feel about this!
