Levindale Celebrates Chanukah with Beth El Choir Joining the Festivities
Residents at Levindale and choir members at Beth El Congregation share the joy of Chanukah together.

The Beth El Congregation choirs struck just the right chord on the third night of Chanukah at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital.
Both the adult and the children’s choirs shared their talents and time with residents and staff as they do every year. Under the director of Cantor Thom King, they sang beautiful melodic Chanukah songs and fun whimsical tunes. The youth choir even did some choreography as part of their performances. Everyone attending the event loved it and was very appreciative to the group. Special thanks also went out to the parents who “schlepped” their children to Levindale for the performance.
The choirs performed after Rabbi Jeffrey Orkin lit three candles in the menorah. Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is observed for eight days. It commemorates the re-dedication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem in 165 BCE and the miracle that oil only expected to last for one day instead burned brightly for eight days.
