The Links have been a national partner for three years with the American Cancer Society. The Patapsco River Chapter has trained their members as Health Equity Ambassadors. To support the Society's efforts against COVID-19, the ambassadors organized and delivered a donation of meals to the University Maryland Medical Center staff who are staying at the American Cancer Society's Baltimore Hope Lodge when they cannot return home in between shifts. The Links are planning a second donation of meals in the coming weeks. All Hope Lodges across the U.S. had to close to cancer patients during COVID-19 because of the health risks to patients. However, many of the lodges have been repurposed to offer free housing to health care staff to help in the fight against COVID-19.
