Loyola's Dean Kathleen Getz appointed to Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore board

Sellinger programs are delivered on campuses in Baltimore, Columbia and Timonium.

BALTIMORE—Kathleen A. Getz, dean of Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management, was appointed to the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore’s board of directors. The Economic Alliance’s board works to advance business and economic development in the region.

“It’s a privilege to join a group of committed community leaders at the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore. Together, we’ll work to do the most good for the most people in Baltimore, making the region a world-class market in which to live and work,” Getz said.

Getz has more than 24 years of experience in business education. As dean of the Sellinger School, Getz seeks to teach business as a positive force in society. Her vision for the school combines leadership education, a global understanding of business and Jesuit values to create thriving organizations and sustainable communities.

Prior to joining Sellinger, Getz served as the dean of the Michael R. Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago from 2011 through 2014. Previously, Getz served at American University’s Kogod School of Business from 1991 to 2011, including as senior associate dean for academic affairs from 2006 to 2011. Getz began at American University as an assistant professor of management, earned tenure and was promoted to an associate professor of management in 1997, and chaired the department of management from 1999 to 2002.

Getz is actively engaged with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, serving on peer review teams and as a member of the Continuous Improvement Review Committee. She has been a speaker for the Department of State International Visitors Program and the Washington Board of Trade.

She is former associate editor for the journal Business & Society and past president of the International Association for Business and Society. She held an Aspen fellowship in 2000 and was elected as a fellow of the International Association for Business and Society in 2006.

Getz earned her doctorate in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh, her MBA from Gannon University and her bachelor’s degree in human development from Pennsylvania State University.
