Marucci Sports Partners with Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation to Donate $25,000 to Baltimore City High School Baseball Programs

Local schools to receive equipment from Marucci Sports including aluminum bats, helmets and batting gloves

 

Baltimore, Md. – Marucci Sports and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF) today announced a donation of $25,000 worth of equipment to Baltimore City Public Schools high school baseball programs. Each school will receive a variety of uniform and equipment options from Marucci Sports including, a workhorse, batting gloves, helmets and aluminum bats, to use throughout the 2014 spring baseball season.

 

“As our Foundation continues to reach youth across the country, we always want to make sure we are taking care of the communities in our own backyard,” said Steve Salem, president of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.  “We are proud to partner with Marucci Sports to help provide these deserving student athletes with the items they need to achieve their dreams both on and off the field.”

 

The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation uses baseball- and softball-themed programs to help build character and teach critical life lessons to underserved youth residing in America’s most distressed communities.  The foundation recently launched a capital campaign for its Youth Development Park initiative, which develops several unique, multi-purpose, low maintenance fields with synthetic turf that will provide a cohesive recreational and educational experience for underserved young people across the United States. The Ripken Foundation has completed 18 Youth Development Parks across the country, including three in the Baltimore area, with four additional Maryland locations on the horizon. 

 

“Baseball is a vehicle to teach kids some of the most important life lessons and our products are just tools to help teach them those lessons,” said Marucci Sports Co-Founder, Kurt Ainsworth. “The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation is the perfect partner for Marucci to help have a positive impact today’s youth.”

 

 “The generous support and donations made possible by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and Marucci not only says the right thing, but shows they do the right thing,” said Jim Foster, Frederick Douglass High School baseball coach. “This not only gives our student athletes a chance to do their best on the field, but also help them understand that people want them to do their best off the field too. It is truly a quiet leadership by example.”
