Maryland Drivers: Move Over Law Is Expanding
As of Oct. 1, the law includes tow trucks that meet certain requirements.

Maryland’s “move over” law will be expanding as of Oct. 1,when new laws go into effect around the state.
The move over law, passed in 2010 to ensure safety around emergency vehicles, will now include tow trucks.

If a tow truck is stopped, standing or parked on a highway and has its lights flashing, drivers in the lane next to the tow truck must change lanes or slow down, unless they are directed otherwise by a police officer or traffic control device, according to Maryland law.
