WHY:
‘Maryland Manufacturing Day at the Yard’ is being held to kick off a month-long celebration of Maryland manufacturers. The event will be held one day before National Manufacturing Day, a nationwide event held each year on the first Friday of October to celebrate modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
‘Maryland Manufacturing Day at the Yard’ will include a pregame party for manufacturers, family and friends. Manufacturers will be honored throughout the game, which will begin with Paul Reed Smith performing the National Anthem. The event will also show off the amazing products that are made in Maryland at displays placed in MD Square plaza prior to the game. The displays will showcase Maryland manufacturers and their work, giving adults and children the opportunity to learn the stories behind these products and be inspired by the incredible work being accomplished by manufacturers in the state.
Also attending the event and supporting Maryland manufacturing on October 1 will be an array of advocates for the industry in Maryland, including Mike Gill, secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.
“My administration, my partners and myself included are excited to be a part of this special event,” Gov. Larry Hogan said in a letter supporting the event. “Manufacturing in Maryland is a robust and dynamic industry, driving the creation of family-supporting jobs, inspiring innovation, and advancing our state’s economy. This event will help highlight the challenging and rewarding careers that Maryland manufacturing has to offer, and reaffirm the importance of manufacturers and their good works in the local communities to our state’s ever-changing economy. I hope you can join us on October 1st!”
