Maryland SPCA and Pet+E.R. Join Forces to Help Save More Pets
The MD SPCA is proud to announce an exciting partnership with Pet+E.R. that will provide around-the-clock emergency medical care to pets.

The Maryland SPCA is proud to announce an exciting partnership with Pet+E.R. in Towson that will provide around-the-clock emergency medical care to shelter pets and new adopters.
As of March 1, 2016, Pet +E.R. became the exclusive emergency medical services provider of the MD SPCA, allowing shelter and foster pets access to top tier emergency and critical care 24- hours a day, 365 days a year.
“Our veterinary staff gives excellent medical care to the pets that come into our adoption center,” said Nichole Miller, director of operations for the Maryland SPCA. “However, because we are not staffed 24-hours a day, there are situations that require us to seek after-hours help from the veterinary community to save pets needing emergency care.”

As the state’s only certified critical care emergency clinic, Pet+E.R. is discounting emergency services to the MD SPCA by 40%. Additionally, all new pet adopters will be able to pre-register their pets, including existing pets at home, with Pet+E.R. during the adoption process. Should any adopter ever need to seek emergency medical care for their pet, Pet+E.R.’s pre-registration program ensures that they will already have the medical history on the pet and registration information from the owner.
“The last thing anyone wants to do is answer a lot of questions if they ever have to seek emergency care for their pet,” said Barbara Healy, adoption manager for the Maryland SPCA. “Pre-registering is quick and easy, and it eliminates the paperwork at the time of emergency. This is especially helpful for pet sitters when the pet owner is away.”

Pet+E.R. will also provide training opportunities on emergency medical care to MD SPCA medical technicians and has pledged a $7,500 corporate sponsorship for the March for the Animals, the MD SPCA’s largest fundraiser of the year. The funds will be used to provide shelter, food, spay/neuter procedures and medical treatment for thousands of homeless pets who will come to the MD SPCA this year.
“Our mission at Pet+E.R. is to provide every pet access to the highest quality emergency and specialty care. We are committed to compassion for animals and have stringent standards for patient care,” said Dr. Tanya Tag, DACVECC, Chief of Staff at Pet+E.R. “We recognize that same commitment in the Maryland SPCA and support their goal to improve the lives of pet and people in the community. We have the utmost respect for their organization and are proud to partner with them!”
