Miles That Matter Pikesville 5K Scheduled
Annual Run/Walk Event benefits Ulman Cancer Fund and Pikesville Chamber of Commerce.
PIKESVILLE, Md. – Over 1,100 runners and volunteers are expected to come together for the 16th annual Miles That Matter Pikesville 5K, Sunday, July 10, at Woodholme Center (1829 Reisterstown Rd.) in the heart of Pikesville.
Benefiting the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults and the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce, this family-friendly event features a 5K Run/Walk and a Post-Race Celebration. New this year, children under 12 can run the 5K.

On-site registration begins at 6 a.m. Following warm-up exercises by Marilyn Pick, voted “Best of Baltimore,” the open amateur race commences at 8 a.m. and travels along Greene Tree Road.

Afterward, everyone can reconvene at Woodholme Center for a full hot breakfast by such vendors as Classic Catering, Suburban House, Lenny’s Deli, Giant, Starbuck’s, Target, Trader Joe's and Just Ice Frozen Desserts.
Adding to the fun will be music by CK Productions, a moon bounce, face painting and prize drawings for gift certificates, sports equipment and more. The event will conclude with the presentation of the following awards:

· 1st place male and female overall – $100
· 2nd place male and female overall –$100 gift certificate to Linwood’s or Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse
· 3rd place male and female overall – $50
· Trophies to the top three male and female finishers by age (12 and under, 13 – 15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older
“Supporting young adults and their loved ones impacted by cancer is the core of our mission and we're so excited to continue to bring people together in the young adult cancer fight through the Pikesville 5K,” said Brock Yetso, president & CEO of Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. “We invite the community to join us again for this special event, which also supports the Chamber’s efforts to make Pikesville a destination where people want to live, work and shop.”
The Pikesville 5K registration fee includes breakfast, water, entertainment and commemorative race tech shirts for the first 600 adults or a commemorative water bottle for kids under 12.
Kids’ registration is $25. Adult registration is $30 through May 31, $35 June 1 through July 9, and $40 on race day. Also, teams of 10 or more will receive a $5 discount. Pre-registration and packet pick-up also is available at the Pikesville Farmer’s Market @ Pomona Square (1700 Reisterstown Rd., July 5, from 2-6 p.m.), Charm City Run (2045 York Rd., Timonium 21093, July 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), and Fleet Feet Sports (Woodholme Center, July 7, from 4 to 7 p.m., and both July 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
Since its inception 16 years ago, the Pikesville 5K has raised over $1 million. Longtime volunteer, Mark Sapperstein (owner of 28 Walker Development), who lost both his mother and mother-in-law to cancer, will return as the event chair.
