Monarch Academy Baltimore names principal

Rebello brings more than a decade of experience serving the Baltimore City Public School System

Monarch Academy Public Charter School in Baltimore named Cera Rebello principal. Rebello brings more than a decade of experience serving the Baltimore City Public School System in both administrative and instructional roles.

Rebello comes to Monarch Academy from a residency principalship at Eutaw-Marshburn Elementary School in Baltimore. In her position, she created and evaluated instructional goals, teacher practices and student learning. She led the school staff in professional development as well as increased student performance in math.

“As a focused and proven instructional leader in urban settings, she has what it takes to continue to build a strong culture of respect and a love for learning at Monarch Academy. She is also committed to working closely with teachers and parents to ensure our students reach their highest potential to think critically, problem-solve creatively and develop self-discipline, while making a positive difference in the world,” said Duane Arbogast, vice president of educational services and chief operating officer of the TranZed Alliance, the parent company of Monarch Academy.

Rebello has also been an academic content liaison with the Baltimore City Public School System, where she supported 14 schools in meeting math education goals, trained teachers and instructional leaders for the district, and wrote curriculum for both the city and state. She taught at Hamilton Elementary Middle and Belmont Elementary schools where she also served as a mentor for new teachers and facilitator at the New Teachers Institute for Baltimore City Schools.

She holds an administrator certification and advanced professional certificate from the Maryland State Department of Education and completed the Aspiring Principals Program at New Leaders for New Schools in Baltimore. Rebello earned her master’s degree in negotiations and conflict management from the University of Baltimore and her bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Stevenson University. She lives in Baltimore.

Monarch Academy Public Charter School Baltimore (www.monarchcharter.org) is a co-educational public charter school for students in kindergarten through eighth grade operated by the TranZed Alliance serving students who reside in Baltimore. Monarch Academy provides students with an enriched, rigorous, hands-on, academic curriculum emphasizing project-based learning and the arts and technology.
