Murphy Wins The Arc Baltimore's Volunteer Service Award
North Baltimore resident Carla N. Murphy is the winner of The Arc Baltimore's Volunteer Service Award for her commitment to the organization
North Baltimore resident Carla N. Murphy is the winner of The Arc Baltimore’s Volunteer Service Award for her commitment to the organization’s mission. Since joining The Arc Baltimore Board eight years ago, Murphy has been an active and involved member. Arc Baltimore Executive Director Stephen Morgan notes, “Carla’s passion for The Arc’s mission and her willingness to commit her time to the furtherance of that mission was so evident that she was soon nominated as an officer, first as Secretary, then Vice President, and now President.”
Morgan adds, “Carla attends not only Board meetings, but every event possible. She also works every angle to get donations for The Arc, from enlisting her law firm as a sponsor of Art in the Round, hosting Arc speakers at United Way events, and seeking contributions to our Bay Buddies program. Carla is a leader and a friend to The Arc, and fortunately will still be around next year as Past President.”
Murphy is a principal in Duane Morris, LLP’s Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice Group. There, she represents employers in discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, wage/hour claims, FMLA and similar issues. She also offers litigation avoidance advice to employers, encouraging the development of employment policies and agreements, including employee handbooks, and arbitration agreements. She is active in several bar associations, served as a hearing officer for the Baltimore City Civil Service Commission, and is the author of Maryland Employment Law Forms and Practice Manual.
