New Baltimore City Curfew in Effect Starting Friday
Children have new rules for when they have to be inside.

Starting Friday, youths in Baltimore City are under a new curfew law.
Children younger than 14 have to be inside by 9 p.m.
Teens ages 14-16 years old have to be off the streets by 10 p.m. on school nights and 11 p.m. on non-school nights.

Those who are found in violation will be taken to “local curfew centers staffed with counselors” as they wait for their guardians to pick them up, and fines up to $500 may be imposed, Fox 45 reported.
The city’s curfew is “one of the strictest in the country,” according to WBAL, which said the American Civil Liberties Union had expressed concerns regarding enforcement and penalties.

A previously existing curfew had allowed kids in Baltimore who were under 17 to stay out until 11 p.m. during the week and midnight on weekends.
