North Baltimore Crime: Burmese Mountain Tortoises Swiped From Backyard

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore City Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Larceny Other: 3400-block Hickory Avenue, between 11 p.m., March 13 and 3 p.m., March 14. Someone stole two Burmese Mountain Tortoises from the backyard of a home.

Robbery Unarmed: 1600 block Union Avenue, 1:40 a.m., March 11. A robber broke into a man’s 1996 Dodge Neon and stole a Garmin GPS. The man confronted the robber who overpowered him and pulled off the man’s gold necklace before running away.

Stolen Auto: 3800-block Buena Vista Avenue, between 10:30 p.m., March 11 and 6:15 a.m., March 12. A silver 2003 Dodge Intrepid was stolen.

Larceny Other: 1300 block W. 41st Street, between 7:30 p.m., March 13 and 12:30 p.m., March 14. A license plate from a black Ford Explorer was stolen.

Larceny from Auto: 1500 block Union Avenue, between 10 p.m., March 15 and 7:25 a.m., March 16. The window of a 2010 Toyota was smashed and a Garmin GPS was stolen.

Waverly

Aggravated Assault: 500-block E. 34th Street, 5:25 p.m., March 12. A woman and another person got into an argument when the latter threw a brick and hit her in the arm. Police responded and arrested the person who tossed the brick.

Better Waverly

Larceny Shoplifting: 2800 block Greenmount Avenue, 6:30 p.m., March 12. A person stole a bucket and other items and then ran out of the Family Dollar.

Pen Lucy

Burglary Residential:  608 block Wyanoke Avenue, between 2 p.m., March 12 and 9 a.m., March 13.  A burglar kicked in a basement door and stole roof shingles, base sheets and nails before leaving the house.

Guilford

Larceny from Auto: 3500 block Newland Road, between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m., March 11. A cell phone, bags and a sync cord were among the items stolen from a 2006 Toyota.

Abell

Larceny from Auto: 3200 block Barclay Street, between midnight and 1:25 a.m., March 12. A license and $50 were stolen from a 2002 Lincoln vehicle.

Charles Village

Larceny Bicycle: 2700 block N. Calvert Street, 7 p.m., March 14. A green women's bicycle was stolen from the backyard of a home.

Hoes Heights

Stolen Auto: 1100 block Roland Heights Avenue, 4:40 p.m., March 16.  A 2007 Honda CRF dirt bike was stolen.

Winston-Govans

Burglary Residential: 500 block Chateau Avenue, between 3 p.m., March 15 and 3 p.m., March 16. A burglar forced open a basement door and stole a DVD player and a PlayStation 3.

Homeland

Larceny from Auto: 400 block Markland Avenue, 2:50 p.m., March 16. The window of a 2008 Toyota was smashed and a handicap placard was stolen.

Jones Falls Area

Larceny from Auto: 2600 block Falls Road, between 3:30 p.m., March 12 and 8:50 a.m., March 13. Someone stole gasoline from a 2001 International truck that belongs to Baltimore City.

Roland Park

Larceny from Auto: 200 block Overhill Road, between 4:25 and 4:40 p.m., on March 15. The window of a 2003 Land Rover was broken, and a wallet and a Garmin GPS were stolen.
