Rappel for Kidney Health Moving to Hyatt Regency Baltimore, June 5-6

Baltimore's only exclusive rappel event to support NKF-MD's patient services, education & research efforts

LUTHERVILLE, Md. – The National Kidney Foundation of Maryland (NKF-MD) will hold its sixth annual Rappel for Kidney Health signature event, Friday, June 5 (from 1 to 4 p.m.), and Saturday, June 6 (from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), from a new venue – the Hyatt Regency Baltimore.

“Past Rappel for Kidney Health events at the Legg Mason Building, Canton Crossing Tower and the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront have created an unbelievable amount of excitement, drawing more than 450 participants and raising over $560,000 to support our patient services, education and research efforts,” said NKF-MD President and CEO Traci Barnett. “We are excited to continue this tradition and hold another successful Rappel event from the newly remodeled Hyatt Regency, a beautiful hotel by the harbor.”

As the exclusive rappel event occurring annually in the Baltimore metropolitan area, Rappel for Kidney Health invites people of all ages – including those with connections to kidney disease, transplant donors and recipients, adventure seekers, media personalities and local celebrities – to go “over the edge” of the 15-story hotel, from the roof to street level.

New this year, employees can rally together and nominate their leaders to rappel in the “Toss Your Boss” Challenge. So far, the following companies have signed on: Silberstein Insurance Group, The Believeau Group, Bagby Restaurant Group and Home Dialysis of Maryland.

Everyone going over the edge must raise $1,000 to participate. They will undergo rappel training on event day and receive a commemorative photo of their rappel, as well as an event t-shirt, Adding to the fun, entertainment will be available for family, friends, co-workers and hotel guests cheering on the rappel participants as they land.

Rappel for Kidney Health is a unique event that raises vital funds for kidney patients and research,” said Event Chair Beth Horn, director of marketing at Northwestern Mutual, a returning sponsor. “We are pleased to support the event and encourage others to join us.”

“With 1 in 9 adults nationally and 1 in 8 adults in Baltimore suffering from kidney disease, the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland is doing important work to help eradicate kidney disease, assist kidney patients and inform our community about the risks of kidney disease,“ added Horn, who rappelled last year.
