Shogun Fights XI Brings High Intensity Mixed Martial Arts Action to Royal Farms Arena Once Again

Micah Terrill defeats Willie Floyd III in the main event, extends his Shogun Fights winning streak to five

Shogun Fights XI brought high intensity, riveting sports entertainment to Royal Farms Arena once again on Saturday, Nov. 15. The 11th installment of Maryland’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) event drew a crowd of approximately 5,000 spectators and MMA fanatics.

The fight card of 12 well-matched bouts featured both old and new regional MMA stars. Crowd favorites and Shogun Fights veterans, Micah Terrill and James “Binky” Jones offered two electrifying fights, both extending their winning streaks via Technical Knockout due to Unanswered Strikes against their formidable opponents, Willie Floyd III and Neil Johnson. Following his first round defeat of Johnson, Jones publicly announced his return for Shogun Fights XII in April 2015, revoking his previous plan to enter into professional MMA retirement.

“This win came with the help of my team and coaches at BJJ Conquest. Being the main event, I knew I had to put in the extra work and deliver an impressive performance,” said fighter Micah Terrill. “Being involved with Shogun Fights has been the greatest experience I could ask for and the closest to UFC I’ve been. The professionalism, hospitality and overall atmosphere makes for an experience of a lifetime.”

Many fighters on the Nov. 15 fight card were newcomers to the Shogun Fights scene. Local Harford County fighter, Greg Fischer won his professional debut via Split Decision against Tacuma Robinson of Gaithersburg. Harford County friends, family and fans packed an entire section of the arena to show their support.

Shogun Fights and presenting sponsor Atlantic Remodeling partnered with Epic Church to support the third annual Be Warm Baltimore coat drive. Shogun Fights XI patrons donated approximately 100 new and gently worn coats upon entering the venue. Shogun Fights offered a $25 discount coupon to all who donated a coat for select seats at Shogun Fights XII being held on April 15, 2015. Epic Church distributed nearly 600 coats, 300 articles of clothing, 200 pairs of gloves, and various other items, including shoes, blankets, books and scarves to Baltimore’s homeless and families in need.

“John has taken the Shogun Fights model and created a popular and long-running series of quality professional MMA shows. Shogun Fights XI was a success from both a promoter’s perspective and commission perspective,” said Executive Director of the Maryland State Athletic Commission Patrick Pannella. “It was a pleasure working with John Rallo and the entire Shogun Fights staff. The Maryland State Athletic Commission is looking forward to regulating Shogun Fights XII in 2015.”
