THURSTON AND LOVEY Opens in Hampden
New Home Furnishings and Jewelry Shop Opens in Hampden near "Miracle on 34th St," in Time For Holiday Shopping
BALTIMORE, MD – On Sat. Nov. 29, the opening of Thurston & Lovey, Baltimore’s new home for home furnishings and jewelry, added sparkle to the kick off of Hampden’s Christmas shopping season. The store opened at 3410 Chestnut Ave., just across the street from Baltimore’s “Miracle on 34th Street,” on the same day this year’s edition of the popular holiday light display was unveiled.
The shop features a mix of antique and new home furnishings and fine jewelry, and other unique holiday gifts priced to fit a wide range of budgets. Beginning in the spring, the store will feature plants, planters, and other exterior decor in an outdoor garden shop.
Thurston & Lovey is the brainchild of David M. Briskie, a Baltimore-based interior and garden designer who is locally renowned for the wildly eclectic appearance of the popular Papermoon Diner.

The store will also serve as the public face of Briskie’s interior and garden design business.
Briskie’s noteworthy design aesthetic begins with the idea of layering, grouping objects to create depth and tell a story. “I intend Thurston & Lovey to be a sort of library of objects to be layered into all aspects of life,” he explained, noting that the idea applies equally well in adding decor to a room, plants to a garden, or jewelry to a wardrobe.

The shop’s motto is: “Home, Garden, and You.”
“Thurston & Lovey” is a nod to the whimsical Mr. and Mrs. Howell, iconic characters on the classic television show “Gilligan’s Island.”
The shop will open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the holiday season.
