Trash Collection Canceled for Tuesday in Baltimore
Citing snowfall, public works officials say crews will pick up trash another day this week for some residents.

BALTIMORE, MD – Curbside pickups slated for Tuesday have been canceled this week, according to the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.
Trash and recycling that was to be picked up on Tuesday, Jan. 26, will instead be collected on Saturday, Jan. 30, the department reported.
Public works officials made the decision as contractors and staff undertake the clearing of more than 2 feet of snow that accumulated over the weekend in Baltimore.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said that it was the “largest snowfall in Baltimore’s history,” speaking at a press conference Monday morning where she told the media that some city workers have not been home since Friday.
Rawlings-Blake said 500 pieces of specialized equipment have been brought into the city from as far away as Canada to help clear the snow, which in many cases must be picked up and dumped at off-site locations.

Department of Public Works Director Rudy S. Chow said agency officials will evaluate throughout the day whether to suspend curbside collection services beyond Tuesday.
In the meantime, the city reports curbside pickup, bulk pickup, street sweeping and trash collection centers will be nonoperational on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Citizens should keep trash in bags inside trash cans with lids.
