UMMC Pledges $25,000 to NKF Serving Maryland & Delaware

Funds to support living kidney donation workshop and other patient services/education/research initiatives

LUTHERVILLE, Md. (Aug. 27, 2018) – With a shared goal of advocating on behalf of the kidney community, the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) has awarded $25,000 to the National Kidney Foundation Serving Maryland & Delaware (NKF-MDDE).

“Our mission to teach, discover and care aligns perfectly with the National Kidney Foundation Serving Maryland & Delaware’s goal to build awareness, drive prevention and support treatment of kidney disease,” said Dr. Rolf Barth, Head, Division of Transplantation at UMMC.

As part of a Kidney Champion Partner Annual Partnership arrangement, UMMC will fund and host The Big Ask Big Give Workshop on Living Donation – a free 4-hour workshop with lunch – to help waitlisted kidney patients find a living donor. The event takes place Sunday, Sept. 16, from noon to 5 p.m., at the University of Maryland Southern Management Campus Center (621 West Lombard St., Baltimore, MD 21201). In exchange, UMMC will receive speaking opportunities and additional forms of visibility and sponsorship recognition. NKF-MDDE also will provide social media, Blog and Web exposure, and offer UMMC spokesperson opportunities when media interviews are secured.
