Weather Delay for Baltimore City Public Schools

Delay is in effect on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

On Tuesday morning, public schools and school offices in Baltimore City will open two hours late, according to an announcement from Baltimore City Public Schools.

In addtion, before-school and all half-day early learning programs are canceled, the announcement said.

The region was under a winter weather advisory overnight Monday due to freezing rain and below-freezing temperatures, creating the potential for icy spots to develop.

Officials advised using extra caution on the roads.

“What looks wet may be ice,” the Maryland Transportation Authority reported Tuesday morning.

The State Highway Administration (SHA) encouraged drivers to heed speed limits, which are in place for ideal weather conditions.

“SHA asks motorists to drive at the appropriate speed for the conditions this morning and delay travel if warranted,” SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters said Tuesday morning. “Based upon the storm’s path overnight and this morning, road conditions could change dramatically as you travel, so please use caution.”
