Women's March in Baltimore Slated for Saturday
Baltimore will host a sister march to the Women's March on Washington this weekend.
BALTIMORE, MD — On the heels of Friday's Presidential inauguration, thousands will gather for the Women's March on Washington on Saturday. More than 600 “Sister Marches” are planned across the country, among them Maryland marches in Annapolis, Baltimore, Frederick and Ocean City.
The march in Baltimore is billed as a peaceful vigil and demonstration from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21. Participants will meet in front of Johns Hopkins University at 33rd and North Charles streets.
"Assert your hopes for social justice to the incoming administration," organizers said. "If able, bring signs that call for social, racial, and gender justice!"

The March for Women began as a Facebook page calling for women to protest Trump’s inauguration and evolved into a larger movement. More than 218,000 people had marked themselves as “going” on the Facebook event page and more than 250,000 indicated they were "interested" as of Friday.
"The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us — women, immigrants of all statuses, those with diverse religious faiths particularly Muslim, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native and Indigenous people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, the economically impoverished and survivors of sexual assault," the event page states. "We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear. We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families — recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country."
