Driver Seriously Hurt After Crashing Into Traffic Light Pole: PD

A driver is in critical condition after crashing into a traffic light pole in Darnestown.

DARNESTOWN, MD — A person is in critical condition after crashing into a traffic light pole in Darnestown Saturday morning.

According to Montgomery County Police, the single-vehicle collision occurred around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Darnestown and Riffleford roads. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Lexus IS300 was traveling east on Darnestown Road when it left the roadway and struck a traffic light pole.

The driver, who was trapped inside the sedan, was rescued by emergency crews and taken to a local hospital. Police say the patient suffered life-threatening injuries.
