Five Places To Stay Cool

It's scorching hot outside, but it doesn't mean you have to be, too!

With temperatures reaching nearly 100 degrees this week, there is no denying that the famous D.C. summer has officially arrived.

But that doesn't mean you have to be sweating all day. When the sun and humidity get to be too much for you, visit one of these local places to cool down. And remember to stay hydrated!

  1. : Dive in and cool down. Check out one of the local public pools in Germantown, Poolesville or Gaithersburg. Or find a private club in your own neighborhood. If you aren't already familiar with one of these nearby recreation clubs, check out our of your local choices.
  2. Quince Orchard Library: It's free, it's air conditioned and there is plenty to keep you entertained while you cool down.
  3. Starbucks: The combination of frapaccino and air conditioning will cool you down instantly. So much so, in fact, you might need a sweater!
  4. : There's nothing better than ice cream to cool you down on a hot day. Just make sure to eat up before it melts in the heat.
  5. Movie Theater: Settle into the comfortable, air-conditioned theater and escape the heat with a movie. At nearly two-and-a-half hours, Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides, is your best bet for escaping the heat for the longets amount of time.
