Hanukkah Begins Sundown Tuesday, Local Events Planned

Celebrate Hanukkah with these events in Montgomery County.

Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, begins at sundown Tuesday and goes until Dec. 24. The Jewish holiday commemorates the story of the Maccabean Revolt against Syrian rulers in present day Israel 2,300 years ago.

Chanukah Lights & Music

Sunday, Dec. 21, 5:30 pm.

Join to watch the lighting of a giant Techno-Menorah and listen to the music of Hassidic rapper “MOR-TO-LIFE.” Includes glow-in-the-dark gifts, Judah Macabbee, hot latkes, jelly doughnuts and chocolate gelt.

This outdoor celebration will be at Bethesda Lane shops at Bethesda Row off Arlington Road, between Bethesda Avenue and Elm Street.
