2 Drivers Sent To Trauma Centers After Head-On Crash

The drivers of SUVs that crashed head-on in Odenton were taken to area trauma centers, according to the county fire department.

ODENTON, MD — The drivers of two SUVs that crashed head-on in Odenton on Jan. 9 were taken to area trauma centers with serious injuries, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. The crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 8900 block of Piney Orchard Parkway near Patuxent Road.

Firefighters say one SUV came to rest in the woods against a tree with the driver trapped inside her vehicle. The 49-year-old woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was extricated in about 30 minutes. Paramedics took her to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were serious, but did not appear life-threatening, authorities said.

The second driver, a 19-year-old man, was also the only occupant of his vehicle. He got out of his SUV before firefighters arrived. He was taken to the trauma center at John Hopkins Bayview with injuries that were also serious, but not believed life-threatening.
