Adding Scratch-Off To Odenton Deli Purchase Rings Up $10K Winner

A Severna Park woman's stop at an Odenton store won her $10K; she plans to pay off bills.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — An Anne Arundel County resident who made a trip to the corner store for some of her favorite lunchmeat bagged a lot of greens, too – $10,000, to be exact. She won a $10,000 prize playing the $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off.

“I rarely play scratch-offs,” said the happy mom, who bought the $20 instant ticket on a whim and was startled by her win. “It’s a blessing, and I have never won like this before.”

The Severna Park resident visited Lucky’s Superette located at 1101 Odenton Road in Odenton to buy her sandwich makings. The 69-year-old spotted the game and added it to her purchase.

“It was not until later in the day that I decided to scratch it,” she told Maryland Lottery officials. “I didn’t think I had won, and then my son looked at the ticket and said, ‘You matched the number 56.’ Once we scratched the amount under the number, we then realized I had won $10,000.”

The happy winner of the “Lucky Platinum,” as she dubbed her prize, plans to use it to pay off her bills. All four top prizes remain on the $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off, which went on sale in August. Players can seek seven $50,000 prizes, 18 more $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $20 to $5,000.
