SEVERN, MD — The woman who hit a police officer and five other cars last week was identified Monday as a Crownsville resident.

Anne Arundel County Police said the woman at the center of the case is 28-year-old Jasmine Cooper, who is now facing multiple charges, including three felony counts.

Court records show Cooper was charged with the following offenses:

The charges all stem from the May 7 incident in which Cooper is said to have forcibly taken the car of a relative to flee the scene of a collision that had happened moments earlier.

Authorities said the family member had driven to the scene to help Cooper after learning she had been in a crash.

Police said the initial collision happened shortly after 9 p.m. in the area of North Crain Highway and 11th Avenue in Glen Burnie.

Once Cooper was traced to the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive in Severn, police said she ignored commands and drove the stolen vehicle toward authorities. Two patrol cars and a civilian vehicle sustained damage during the incident.

One of the officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

Cooper had driven toward officers even after she suffered a gunshot wound when officers discharged their weapons, police said. She was later taken into custody by officers who spotted her trying to get into another vehicle.

One officer involved in the incident was identified as an 8-year veteran of the force. The other has been with the agency for a year.

Cooper remains held without bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27.
