On 11 September 2026, NREMT-B Lily R. Bridges received the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighter's Association Greg Croft Rookie of the Year Award for 2026.
Lily joined the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) in April 2025. She immediately took the Hazardous Materials Awareness course, the required Incident Command System courses and CPR/AED. She then enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician course which she completed in August 2025. She was cleared as an Ambulance Technician in November 2025. Lily also completed the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course in October 2025, was "Pro-Board" certified as an Ambulance Driver-Operator and is now in training as an ambulance driver.
Lily is a regular member of the Friday night duty crew as the aide on Ambulance 289. From January 1 through May 31, 2026, she was on duty for 26 shifts totaling 279 hours. She responded to 59 calls, making her one of the top ambulance responders. Lily also recently became an American Heart Association CPR instructor and has signed up to teach several classes. In addition to her operational contributions, she is an active member of the Information Technology and Community Outreach Committees.
We are very proud that Lily just received the John E. "Sunny" Rose, Jr. Memorial Training Award for 2026 from the Maryland State Firefighters Association. This award demonstrates Lily's strong commitment to training and self-improvement.
