ODENTON, MD — A 71-year-old Odenton man was arrested and charged by authorities after he stabbed his roommate during a verbal dispute over the weekend, police said.
Anne Arundel County Police said Monday that the stabbing took place Sunday at a residence on the 500 block of Prince Charles Avenue, behind the Highland Court Apartments.
Police were alerted to the incident shortly after 1 a.m., but only after the roommate drove himself to a local hospital.
Citing the roommate's statement, authorities said Stephen Hutton had exited his room and charged the roommate with a knife in hand after an argument broke out.
The stabbing was carried out as the roommate was standing in a hallway. He suffered injuries to his upper extremities.
The roommate was not publicly identified by police.
Police said the roommate drove to the hospital after disarming Hutton, who was later arrested by officers.
Court records show Hutton is facing three charges: first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He remains held without bond.
Hutton is expected to appear for a bond hearing Monday.
