Arundel High School Indoor Color Guard Announces 2015 Competition Schedule

Arundel High School’s Color Guard members have been practicing extensively over the past few weeks in preparation for their 2015 indoor competition series. The Color Guard competes in a circuit called Tournament Indoor Association (TIA), which is the indoor portion of Tournament of Bands (TOB).

Arundel’s Color Guard is fielding two indoor teams this year under the direction of Melissa Reagan and assistant director Jaimie Gilmore. This year marks Ms. Reagan’s seventh year as Color Guard Director, and overall 17th year of coaching at Arundel; Ms. Gilmore returns for her fourth year. Both are Arundel High School alumni and began their Color Guard careers as students at Arundel. They are assisted by Mitch Meussner and Naomi Haywood.

The two teams are the A-Team, which is the more advanced group; and the B-Team for the newer members. The A-team competes in Scholastic A class; the B-team competes in Scholastic Novice.

The two teams will compete in five regular season competitions, one community performance and Chapter Championships. This year the Guard will be defending its three-time Chapter Champion title. The season will end with a 4-day non-stop competition event in Wildwood, NJ: All-Chapter Championships (ACC’s).

The A-Team is performing to an a capella compilation of three Disney songs: “You can Fly!” “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and “When I see an Elephant Fly”.

The B-Team’s show is called “After the Heist”. The show will start from where the Arundel Marching Band 2014 show left off - escaping from a safe with a diamond. The team will then enjoy their bounty and perform to Marilyn Monroe’s “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend”.
