AutoZone Collecting Food for Maryland Food Bank

The AutoZone store in Pasadena is a drop-off site Saturday for the Maryland State Highway Administration's Stuff a Truck event.

The Maryland State Highway Administration is hosting a Stuff a Truck event this weekend to collect donations for the Maryland Food Bank.

Stop by the AutoZone at 2707 Mountain Road in Pasadena on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to drop-off a non-perishable food donation.

Donations are also being accepted at numerous SHA facilities during business hours, on weekdays, through Sept. 26. To find the nearest drop-off location, visit SHA’s online map at http://geodata.md.gov/imaptemplate/?appid=14f72a16f0b54534b5f1414e96920de2. You will also find drop-off locations for partners in the food drive, including the Maryland Department of Transportation and the Maryland State Police.

Throughout September, food banks nationwide are rallying to raise awareness and inspire action against hunger, an issue affecting an estimated 50 million Americans. Nearly 780,000 Marylanders experience food insecurity, and 38 percent in the Maryland Food Bank’s service area earn too much to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program food assistance benefits.

The Maryland Food Bank is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization, leading the movement to end hunger throughout Maryland. Currently distributing 75,000 meals per day – more than 27 million meals annually – the Maryland Food Bank will continue to expand its efforts until hunger ends.

The Maryland Food Bank has three distribution centers located in downtown Baltimore, Salisbury, and Hagerstown. Through an extensive network of soup kitchens, pantries, schools and other community-based organizations, food is distributed throughout 22 counties.
