A Hot Saturday Swim Meet, 52 events, 290+ Swimmers, Lots of Fun!
Three teams swam a great meet on Saturday and are off to a great start!
Swimmers from our neighborhoods participated in time trials at Waugh Chapel Swim Club on Saturday to start their summer swim season. Coaches, parents, siblings and friends (pretty much everyone they knew) lined the pool on all sides to cheer on the swimmers from ages 3 to 18 as they swam in their individual events chosen by their coaches.
There are 61 total events in a meet and the strokes are the Individual Medley, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle Relays. On Saturday we did not swim the relay events because usually relay teams are put together by the coaches based on the swimmers freestyle times.
Since it is time trials, we were not keeping points, but if we were keeping points Waugh Chapel would have come in first, then Piney Orchard and then Maple Lawn.

Waugh Chapel swimmers came in first place in 28 of the 52 events, followed by Piney Orchard with 17, and Maple Lawn had 7 first place finishers. First place winners score 5 points, second place is 3 points and third place is 1 point. This was Maple Lawns first swim meet EVER.
The longest event of the meet was event 11, the 8 & under girls 25 meter free style. There were 43 swimmers! There was a tie for the shortest, events 32 and 36. Event 32 is the boys 15-18 50-meter backstroke and event 36 is the boys 9-10 25-meter butterfly. Each had two swimmers.

Congratulations to all of the swimmers! They’re off to a great start.
