Another "Back to School" Message

In addition to making sure your kids have the supplies they need for class and new clothes to wear, I think you should also send them with the following messages:

If you see someone at your school who is new and/or different and always alone, say hello to them. Ask them to eat lunch with you one day. You don't have to be their best friend, but you should at least show them that someone sees them and cares.

If you see someone at your school being picked on and bullied, don't just ignore it. Tell someone about it. Talk to a teacher. Talk to a parent. Talk to someone who can help. The same goes if they are the one being bullied. Get help. Don't let it continue until it is too much to take.

Do your part to make the school atmosphere a little better. Smile at people. Be nice to everyone, even if they are different than you. Help those who need help.

You can change things for the better.
