What are the odds on Mitt Romney being the favorite for the GOP nomination? Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t, but is he?

That’s been the story for the last 6 months or so with former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, being steady in the polls, however, several other candidates have either come close to him or passed him in the pre-primary polls. In just a matter of days the primary season will kick off with primary elections in the state of New Hampshire and Iowa followed by a few other states.

Mitt Romney ran in 2008 but failed to defeat Senator John McCain for the nomination, thus, he hit the road for the last four years making a name for himself around the country. Some say he is not conservative enough or not the proper religion to be the GOP nomination, however, it appears those with the opinions just mentioned may be changing their mind. Many do see Romney as the one to beat President Obama in November 2012. It appears Romney has the knowledge on the country’s finances and to many, appears to be the one to get this country’s finances back in order and get the people working the jobs they want to work.

Romney’s father, George, was the Governor of Michigan who had an early liking for government and has an impressive list of accomplishments under his belt. Well educated, he appears to be well in tune with foreign affairs and many believe Romney will win the GOP nomination and go on to give a strong run at President Obama. Republican voters are indeed asking themselves all over the country that question and may very well choose to select Romney at the voting booth.

Keep a close eye on Romney’s fundraising numbers over the next few weeks. Confidence could very well be building for Romney’s campaign and if he can pick up several of the first states primaries, he may cruise to victory and gain the GOP nomination.

I spoke with a Democrat who said he looks like a winner with his resume, although, he is too handsome to be a Republican. Don’t know if I should take offense to that or not? Anyhow, Democrats seem not so leery of Romney and could have folks crossing the aisle come November 2012 to select Romney. While Romney must win the hearts of Republican voters he will need to win the respect of the independent voters too if he is to win the General Election in November. It’s still too early in the game of the GOP Primary to call a winner, however, with others dropping off in the polls or dropping out of the race altogether, Romney has to feel good about his chances. Although Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are still hanging around at the top of the polls in a couple of early states.
