Buy, Bye Bachelor Ben...

Contemplating the end of another season of The Bachelor.

All I have to say is, "Thank GOD it's over." That was by far the worst Bachelor/Bachelorette season ever. EVER! Even I got to the point where I started dreading Monday nights. If it weren't for the amazing group of women (and Steve) on the page, I wouldn't been out mid-season. But I made a commitment and enjoyed the sarcasm, wit and camaraderie that comes with enduring weeks of Courtney.

It seemed like Ben was normal, that he possibly had a good head (but bad hair) on his shoulders. Maybe this Bachelor would be different and that he'd use a body part above his navel to guide his decisions about the women. But alas, as his hair grew shaggier and his beard grew bushier, he fell victim to the lies and deception of Courtney. The women tried to warn him. We all yelled at the television and furiously wrote our comments in hopes that they would somehow reach Ben. But he was not to be dissuaded.

So now, we have a little break before "The Bachelorette" returns in May with Brad's ex-fiancee, Emily. Or as we like to call her, "Ricky Bobby." I keep telling myself I won't watch her season. I don't respect her. I don't like her. I don't think she's worth what little precious time I have to myself these days. Any woman, any mother, who goes on national televison and says, "After my daughter goes to bed at 7:30 I'm lonely" is on crack. You're lonely? How about filling your time with a hobby or work or exercise. Why does it have to be filled by a man? You had a man, you had Brad. What happened there? He wasn't entertaining enough for you? She drives me nuts and the show hasn't even started yet.

At the end of the day, I realize it's really not about the show, it's about getting together on a Monday night, albeit virtually, and having fun. It's about getting to know people you've never met but would like to. It's about making each other laugh and who can come-up with the best comment of the night. It's about friends. I'll be there, you know I will. Wild horses (or Ricky Bobby) couldn't drag me away.
