Keep the Cheer Here!
Keep the Cheer Here! Spend it at Home! Get more of it back! A very simple idea that will make a HUGE difference in our local economy!

Keep the cheer here this Holiday shopping season.
Have you wondered why you're hearing so much on buying local these days? I thought I would take this blog post and hopefully give you an idea of why it's so important now more than ever. It's simple really: spend it at home, get more of it back, don't limit your buying local to one Saturday a year, make it a habit to support small business every time you shop!
First, a couple of statics to put it all in perspective:

These stats come to us from a great organization that is trying to get this very simple message out, visit them at www.the350project.net for all the latest information on buying local!
For every $100 spent in locally owned independent stores, $68.00 returns to the community through payroll, taxes and other expenditures. If you spend that in a national chain only $43.00 remain here, spend that same $100 online and NOTHING comes home!

If you break this down that $68 that stays in our community helps funding for local services like police, fire, teachers and more. With these payroll dollars local families are supported. In turn these families are putting back into our system to support local services, making our economy thrive while supporting local community services that are critical to all of us.
Let's break down the $43, this money supports the payroll of our local neighbors who in turn pay taxes to support our local economy. The rest of the revenue will go to support whatever state the national chain is headquartered.
Now the biggest one of all, when you purchase something on-line nothing, zero stays here locally in our town, county, or state...
This simple statistic says it all and why if we are going to rebuild our economy it starts at the store down the street.
So I ask all of you this Holiday Season to "Keep the Cheer Here" support your local businesses, from bikes, to diamonds, cookware to flowers. Don't forget all the great local places to grab anything from a quick sandwich to a gourmet meal, it's all right here in YOUR neighborhood!
